The Trossachs, also known as the ‘Highlands in Miniature’, forms part of the first National Park in Scotland at the heart of which lies Loch Lomond, the largest lake in Britain. The picturesque village of Drymen is the gateway to the unspoilt eastern shore of the loch and is centred around a pretty village green. Our tour includes a visit to the Edinburgh Christmas Market with its street lights, fairground rides, crafters, artists, gifts, tasty treats and entertainment; an array of seasonal attractions to get into the Christmas spirit!
Our fabulous value for money Turkey & Tinsel package includes a welcome drinks reception at the hotel, festively themed meals, afternoon tea on one day, packed lunches on 3 days, visit and gift from Father Christmas, 3 nights evening entertainment and a free bar (selected drinks only) each evening
Our base in Drymen is once again the very comfortable WINNOCK HOTEL which is situated overlooking the village green. Dating back to the 18th century the hotel retains much of its historic charm, with open log fires and oak beams offering a relaxed and friendly welcome. Features of the hotel include a restaurant and traditional bar and all of the en suite bedrooms have tv, telephone and hospitality tray. Although there is no lift, the hotel does have several ground floor rooms available which have their own access and are situated just across from the main hotel.
Brief Itinerary
Thursday 9th December
Departing Newark we travel northwards via the scenic Pennines crossing the border at Gretna. We then proceed through the “lowlands” bypassing Glasgow, so to Loch Lomond and our base at Drymen.
Friday 10th - Saturday 11th December
• Full day visit to the Edinburgh Christmas Market. Enjoy delicious food and drink and traditional crafts or if you’re all shopped out why not visit the Castle, enjoy a fairground ride in Princes Street Gardens or try your hand at ice skating in St Andrew Square!
• Half day tour to the magnificent Stirling Castle which will be decorated for the festive season. On our return to the hotel we are welcomed with an afternoon tea.
Sunday 12th December
Departing Drymen after breakfast we return via the Cheviot Hills and Newcastle, so home to Newark for approximately teatime/early evening.
