Malvern Hills Sunday Stayover

Malvern Hills Sunday Stayover

Based at ABBEY HOTEL

DEPARTS SUNDAY 11TH APRIL

RETURNS MONDAY 12TH APRIL

Offering breath taking views over the counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the Malvern Hills are officially designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, a patchwork quilt of fields, meadows and woodland with gently flowing streams, rivers and carefully tended ancient hedgerows.

Very popular with passengers in recent years, our base for the tour is the very comfortable ABBEY HOTEL which is situated in the hillside spa town of Great Malvern; a haven for bookshops, antique dealers and artists. The Abbey was commissioned during the growth of Malvern during the nineteenth century and now offers outstanding Victorian architecture beneath a creeper clad façade. The hotel has a fine restaurant which overlooks the adjoining Benedictine Priory, a lounge/bar where you may enjoy an afternoon drink/snack and a courtyard cafe serving light refreshments ‘al fresco’. Many of the comfortable en suite bedrooms have stunning views of either the Malverns or the Vale of Evesham and all feature tv, telephone, ironing board and hospitality tray. A passenger lift serves all floors.

BRIEF ITINERARY

Sunday 11th April
Departing Newark early morning, (see specified pick up points below) we travel south west making an extended break for lunch/sightseeing in the beautiful city of Worcester. The city is best known for its magnificent Cathedral but is also famous for world renowned Worcester Porcelain, Worcestershire Sauce and the most picturesque cricket ground in the country. We then continue through pleasant countryside so to our base at Great Malvern.

Monday 12th April
After a leisurely breakfast, there will be free time to enjoy Great Malvern (perhaps explore the 11th century Priory which is located next to the hotel) before we depart for a an afternoon visit to the historic riverside town of Upton upon Severn. Recently voted “Best place to live” in the Midlands by the Sunday Times, you could enjoy a walk along the riverside, have a wander around its many independent shops (including the famous Map Shop) or just enjoy a drink in one of the many cafes. We then rejoin our coach, returning so home to Newark for approximately teatime.
