The Scottish Highlands are an inspiring region of magnificent mountains, enchanting

lochs and sandy beaches. Known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK, the town

of Fort William lies on the shore of Loch Linnhe in the shadow of Ben Nevis –Britain’s

highest mountain.


Very popular with our passengers in recent years, our base in Fort William will

once again be the very comfortable ALEXANDRA HOTEL which is located in the

centre of the town close to all amenities. The hotel features a relaxing lounge,

bar and a restaurant serving fine Scottish cuisine. Naturally, all of the en suite

bedrooms feature tv, telephone, and hospitality tray. A passenger lift serves all



By popular demand our tour will once again include a ride on the Jacobite

Express. This 84 mile round trip passes Britain’s highest mountain,

deepest loch, shortest river and most westerly station and is reputedly one of

the greatest railway journeys in the world.


Monday 9th October
Departing Newark early morning, we travel northwards crossing over the scenic Pennines en route to the Scottish border at Gretna. Then bypassing Glasgow we
continue to the Highlands and our base at Fort William.

Tuesday 10th – Thursday 12th October
Scheduled excursions during our stay will include the following:
• Ride aboard the Jacobite Express which featured as the ‘Hogwart’s Express’ in the famous Harry Potter films. This spectacular journey begins at Fort William and travels via the 21 arched Glenfinnan Viaduct and the tranquil village of Arisaig so to the busy fishing port of Mallaig where there will be time for lunch/sightseeing before commencing the return journey.
• Scenic ride along the shore of Loch Lochy via Fort Augustus to Loch Ness, Scotlands’ longest span of water and free time at the Visitor Centre where you can discover the history of the Loch and its infamous monster!
• Mountain Gondola ride up Aonach Mor (weather permitting). Enjoy breathtaking views of Ben Nevis as you travel 650 metres up the north face of this, the eighth highest mountain in Britain.

Friday 13th October
Departing Fort William, after an early breakfast, we retrace our steps so home to Newark for approximately teatime/early evening.
